Class will focus on moving with the breath creating a moving meditation.
In this class more vigorous sequences will be linked using sun salutations.
Experience is helpful but not necessary.
Modifications will be shown to guide each student to their own personal edge.

I first discovered yoga by chance in 1999. At first, I was only interested in the physical side of Yoga, looking for the strength and balance necessary to compliment my dedication to studying the drums. Eventually I would discover a more balanced approach to yoga that developed the mind and spirit as well as shaping and toning the body.
Upon moving to Portland, OR in 2002, I discovered Ashtanga Yoga, an eight limbed approach to yoga that focuses on intense and vigorous poses that were grounded in the strict discipline of my teacher Timo Jimenez of Yoga Pada Yoga. I began to consider teaching yoga at this time. However, it wasn’t until 2009 that I pursued my teaching certificate at Samadhi Yoga in Seattle. Kathleen Hunt, Steve Davis, and the rest of the teachers at Samadhi made me feel at home and I developed a meditation practice to compliment the physical challenges of Hatha Vinyasa yoga.
In my classes, I draw on several styles to work up a sweat as well as develop the focus and clarity of mind it takes to go deeper in each pose. Meditation, chanting, and breath work will also awaken a spiritual approach to yoga that yokes your mind, body, and spirit. Expect to meet your body where it’s at and move towards your ideal self. I look forward to helping you open your heart, body, and mind with a balanced approach to yoga. Namaste!

Yoga, literally translates as "to yoke." In the eight-limbed Ashtanga practice we have a process laid out for us on how to do this. What do we yoke to? The divine, God, the Self (Atman); the practitioner can choose.
Santosha translates as Contentment. Santosha is one of the Niyamas (Observances) of the eight limbed path of Patanjalis' Ashtanga Yoga.
While in college I happened into teaching a beginners' yoga class and since then I have felt a calling to Yoga and to teach and bring Santosha (contentment) into others' lives.
I have studied a variety of styles of Yoga from Anusara, to Pattabhi Jois’s Ashtanga and also restorative and Yoga Therapy. My classes incorporate Vinyasa (Flowing Asanas) along with Pranayama and Meditation. I also offer Yin/Yang classes along with Yoga Nidra. For illness and injury recovery I focus on gentle movement and held stretches that will gradually increase mobility, flexibility and strength.
I currently offer: private, group and Yoga therapy sessions. I am able to adapt my style to meet the individual students' needs and enjoy getting to know each Yogi and Yogini I meet!
